Gospel of the Long Walk
-
Many celebrate the beginning of this story, and most know how it ends. Yet the years in between are often treated as though they do not matter.
What if eighteen years of a life were silenced? What if those who grasped for power—or were driven by greed—revealed only part of the story? What if the mere mention of your name became synonymous with betrayal?
The Gospel of the Long Walk enters the space between the familiar beginning and the familiar ending. It asks readers to look again at the voices, histories, and human consequences that are too easily left outside an inherited narrative.
-
The Gospel of the Long Walk is a spiritual and philosophical novel about silence, power, loyalty, betrayal, and the cost of allowing only one version of a story to endure.
Through a bold reimagining of a familiar sacred narrative, the book invites readers to question what has been preserved, what has been omitted, and whose experience has been defined by the telling of the story rather than by the complexity of a lived life.
This is not a retelling that asks readers merely to replace one certainty with another. It is an invitation to remain with difficult questions: how people become symbols, how power shapes memory, and what truth may emerge when the middle of the story is allowed to speak.
-
What does it mean for a life to be reduced to a single name, act, or accusation?
Who determines which parts of a shared story are remembered?
How do power, fear, and greed shape the narratives we inherit?
What is lost when a person becomes a symbol rather than a human being?
Can betrayal, loyalty, and consequence be understood without listening to the voices history has quieted?
What changes when we take the “middle” of a story seriously?

The Gospel of the Long Walk is for readers drawn to spiritual inquiry, philosophical fiction, biblical reimagination, ethical questions, and stories that challenge settled assumptions.
It will especially resonate with readers interested in the human dimensions of sacred narratives: the tension between memory and omission, the force of public judgment, the burden of inherited labels, and the search for truth beyond a single authorized account.

Rev. Meddy Jacques and Rev. Jeffrey E. Jacques are the authors of The Gospel of the Long Walk.
Together, they bring spiritual reflection, philosophical inquiry, and a concern for the human stories beneath familiar narratives to this reimagining of a story often treated as settled.
Their work invites readers not simply to revisit what they believe they know, but to consider the silences that may shape what they have been taught to remember.
