Disclaimers & Waivers

e-Filing Notice:

MOST Courts are now requiring electronic filing (e-File) for all matters. This is to ensure the health safety of the public and Court staff. Current Court regulations make this exceedingly difficult for independent paralegals, only allowing paralegals to file on behalf of licensed attorneys.

HOWEVER, Honest Paralegal can STILL help you file your cases and documents with the County Clerk and Court offices. Please ask us what this entails.

Your Paralegal cannot and will not legally advise any Client of anything concerning any legal matter outside of set procedural requirements. Any paperwork prepared should be reviewed by an attorney of your choice, and your option to do this, or to not do this, is entirely up to you and under your liability. All legal knowledge is based on procedural requirements and local professional experience. Each party will agree to indemnify and hold harmless the other, their agents, employees, assigns, and successors, against any and all claims which result from or arise out of any act or omission of the indemnifying party, their agents, employees, assigns, and successors that occurs in connection with any Agreement between the Paralegal and Client. This indemnification will survive the termination of any Agreement.

The Paralegal will prepare your paperwork concerning your matter under the following conditions:

  1. Either an HOURLY or FIXED RATE: All work will be charged at a minimum hourly rate of $20.00 per hour or other rate determined solely by the Paralegal; or at a fixed rate determined by the matter or complexity foreseen by the Paralegal.

  2. MILEAGE: Service of any paperwork will be charged, in addition to the hourly rate, a mileage rate of $0.60/mile. Delivery of documents to be filed in any governmental office (i.e., County Clerk’s Office or Courthouse) will be charged at the same rates.

  3. PAYMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE FEES: The Client will pay all fees for court filing(s) in advance of their filing. The Client will be invoiced these separately before filing.

The Client will be supplied an invoice either in print and/or electronically (via email/online invoicing service through Square) at Paralegal’s discretion for any work done on each individual matter (billed separately by matter) to the address/email(s) noted in the Agreement between you and the Paralegal. All invoices will be payable upon receipt and within ten (10) days of the date of the invoice. Any unpaid invoices will be charged a $15 late fee per month. All invoices are payable in cash, check (payable to Jeffrey E. Jacques), or EFT/charge (an invoice will be supplied to you by email).

All clients, regardless of complexity of the matter contracted, will sign a contract/waiver detailing the nature of the relationship between you and the Paralegal; which may include, but are not limited to the above terms and understandings.
